Our Speakers:
Senator Karen Kwan
Minority Whip
Utah State Senator Karen Kwan is a distinguished and inspiring leader whose career reflects deep commitment to education, community empowerment, and inclusive public service. First elected to the Utah Legislature in 2016, she made history as the first Chinese-American lawmaker in the state and has since served with distinction, including as Minority Whip in the Utah State Senate representing District 12. A lifelong educator and scholar with advanced degrees in psychology and educational leadership, Senator Kwan brings a thoughtful, compassionate voice to the issues that matter most to Utah families— from quality education and economic opportunity to equality and community engagement. Her work both inside and outside the Capitol—teaching, advocating for underrepresented communities, and honoring Utah’s diverse heritage—underscores her tireless dedication to uplifting all constituents and strengthening the social fabric of her state.
